Five alleged communist guerrillas were killed in two separate clashes with government troops in central and southern Philippines this week.
Among them, Zaldy Galamiton (also known as Shaggy and Poldo), was the secretary of Sub-Regional Committee 1 of the New People’s Army (NPA) and Jhonjhon Ayuma Ramos (also known as Erbing) was the commander of the Eagles of the SRSDG (Sub-Regional Sentro De Gravida) of the rebel group, according to the army.
The two men were killed by troops of the 29th Infantry Battalion near the town of Gingoog, in the southern province of Misamis Oriental. A third NPA rebel, Berto Dayong, died in an exchange of fire with the troops of the 29th Infantry Battalion on Monday.
Two other Maoists were killed in shootouts in Negros Occidental on Tuesday and Wednesday by soldiers of the 79th Infantry Battalion.
