At least seven Maoists were killed and three paramilitaries wounded in a clash in Narayanpur district, Chhattisgarh, on Friday.
The shooting took place at approximately 1500 hours while a joint security forces team was conducting an anti-Naxal operation in the villages of Gobel and Thulthuli, in the Orchha area.
The operation involved police District Reserve Guard personnel from Narayanpur, Kondagaon, Dantewada and Bastar Districts, as well as members of the 45th Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).
After the shooting stopped, the bodies of seven Naxalites in uniform were found, while a large cache of weapons was also discovered on the spot.
