(Chile) Incendiary Outing at Liceo 7 in Memory of Luisa Toledo and Pablo Marchant

On Friday, July 12, after the occupation of the establishment by students, barricades and clashes against COP were held in commemoration of Luisa Toledo and Pablo Marchant. A statement written by the rank and file of the high school explains in depth the events that took place that day:

“STATEMENT BY LICEO 7 BASES
12/07/2024

Comrades, we are writing to you in order to report on the events that occurred today, Friday, 12/07/2024 in our establishment. In the first recess, an informative assembly was held, in which they talked about the realization of a black occupation, as a method of demonstration in the face of the social problems that we are currently experiencing, the price increases, the raids and the political and social set up of the government towards spaces of popular organization, such as the Luisa Toledo Popular Dining Room, Espacio Pablo Vergara and Radio Villa France, carried out on 06/07/2024, the same day that marked 3 years since the death of our comrade Luisa Toledo.

After the occupation took place, we decided to take to the streets, interrupting the passive daily life that sustains this system, against which the repressive forces of the state did not wait for their arrival and as students we confronted them; after that pacos and civilians attacked a comrade; in response two comrades came to defend her, and were beaten and kicked, and one of them ended up being arrested, at the same time that another student was arrested. Then the students entered the high school to protect ourselves from the repression, where we were locked up for approximately 2 and a half hours, since outside there was a large contingent of cops around the perimeter of our high school; we were finally able to leave when parents and management spoke for the cops to leave.

We want to make a call not to let go of the streets, to continue activating the spaces of struggle and organization, not to fall into fear and passivity, to show solidarity with our comrades and to assume ourselves in the social war against the state and capital. Regarding the situation of our detained comrades, at this time, one of them has already been released, while the other will go to detention control tomorrow.

FREEDOM TO THE SUBVERSIVE MINDS IMPRISONED IN THE CAGES OF THE MURDEROUS STATE!

COMRADES WHO FELL IN WAR PRESENT!”
