The Eastern Guerrilla Front (FGO), Commander–in–Chief Manuel Vasquez Castao, of the National Liberation Army (ELN), salutes the Colombian people and the international community.
We inform that on Tuesday, September 17, at 11:30 a.m. operational units of the FGO attacked the military canton of Task Force Quiron, located in Puerto Jordan de Arauquita, Arauca, a military fort located in the center of the department was attacked with its own artillery. Our intelligence is aware of more than 30 casualties among officers, non–commissioned officers and professional soldiers, among the dead and wounded.
The Quiron Task Force, which has been under the command of Brigadier General Javier Hernando Africano Lopez; dedicated to guarding and protecting the Pescao gang, whom they use for their mercenary plan as paramilitaries, now takes refuge in the vicinity of this Canton, in the path of Palestine located 9 kilometers away.
Our action against this paramilitary plan is legitimate, we are an organization with political principles, as an insurgent guerrilla with more than 60 years of struggle, combat and resistance.
The ELN has complied with the Mexico Agreement, we unilaterally extended the ceasefire by one year, until August 23rd and the Government continued to fail, underestimated our willingness to resume the Peace Dialogues, allowing Otty Patino to continue with his progrin task of keeping our country tied to perpetual war plans.
As FGO, we comply with the guidelines of the National Directorate and the Central Command on the freezing of the Table.
We denounce that the Army continues to escalate the counter–insurgency plan in the municipality of Cubara, Boyaca, because on several occasions its patrols appear in the indigenous community, using the armbands of the para–exfarc, to deceive the indigenous people, forcing them to guide them, frightening them with putting them in prison or with killing them, if they do not do what they are ordered.
Those who love life, fight to the death against evil.
