Colombia: Three Soldiers Killed and 25 Injured in an Attack Attributed to the ELN

On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, a military base located in the department of Arauca (northeast of the country) was attacked in an operation attributed to the ELN. A truck loaded with homemade explosives exploded near the soldiers, killing three and injuring 25 (four officers, seven noncommissioned officers and fourteen soldiers). Following this attack, the government decided to stop peace negotiations with the guerrillas. This stop marks the end of a deterioration in the talks between the two sides. In addition, the alert level has been raised in all military bases.
