Pro-Palestine Riot in Rome, Italy

On October 5 in Rome, violent clashes took place on the occasion of the pro-Palestinian rally. This one, banned by the authorities, brought together about 10,000 people according to the media.

At the end of the demonstration, several hundred masked demonstrators attacked the police: throwing stones, bottles and firecrackers. This was followed by physical clashes with the cops, even stealing a shield from them, while chanting (in French) “Everyone hates the police”.

The cops responded with batons, tear gas canisters and water cannons. Two people were arrested.
Local media reported 34 police officers injured.

On the 5 October demonstration for Palestine in Rome

We are publishing some brief texts on the demonstration held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 in Rome in solidarity with the Palestinian and Lebanese populations under attack by the Israeli state and against the genocide that has been underway in the Gaza Strip for a year. Before the demonstration (which had been banned by the Rome police prefecture), 51 preventive bans on demonstrations (“fogli di via”) were imposed by the capital against people who were going to the city and who were arrested during the checks. According to media reports, three demonstrators (including one injured in the head by the police) and 34 law enforcement officers (30 from the police, 4 from the financial guard) were injured in the clashes.

Hurry up and say no before a new crackdown convinces you that saying no is foolish and foolish and that it is right for you to accept the hospitality of psychiatric hospitals.
Hurry up and attack capital before a new ideology makes it sacred again.
Hurry up and refuse work before some new sophist tells you, once again, that “work makes you free.” Hurry up and play. Hurry up and arm yourself.

Yesterday in the squares of Rome and Cagliari demonstrated a strength that had not been seen for a long time. Especially in Rome, despite the buses escorted out of the city, the bans, the decrees and the repression, some are still ready to fight no matter what. Clashes that, even if light, held the charges compactly, without general flight, even when confronting the mobile sections in hand-to-hand combat. In all places, there is a loophole, in the ingenuity of the most responsible to know how to exploit it.

That fear changes sides.
