Solidarity with the 17-year-old prisoner from Messolonghi
Only those who risk the outbreak of a storm in the midst of a calm can understand the beauty of αντιβιας
At midnight on 11/10 as an act of revenge in honour of the countless victims murdered by the Greek police, an explosive device was placed in an investigative van in Messolonghi, resulting in the vehicle’s partial destruction. The next morning there is a crescendo of panic in the local media and its reach rapidly extends nationwide. Almost a month later, specifically on 7/11, the Greek police arrest a 17-year-old anarchist comrade as a suspect in this particular attack. News of his arrest was greeted with cheers by the Aetolian Police Officers Association crediting the local police for solving the case. The arrested person was immediately charged with arson, explosion, manufacture and possession of explosive materials as well as damage to foreign property.
After the search carried out in his home, the serious findings found and deemed incriminating for the “falsification” of the case file are posters, brochures, fliers and banners. Here too, it is worth pointing out that on 8/11, during his transfer to the courts of Messolonghi, a police operational show was set up, with the assistance of forces from all over the prefecture.
We know very well that this chain of methods has always been the main weapon of the state apparatus in its attempt to suppress individuals in struggle. In other words, cops and justice carefully engineer the construction of a criminal profile in the first year, which will later lead to the creation of their culpability by the social body, and their condemnation by the judiciary. A tactic that seems to have quickly paid off in this particular case as after 5 days’ detention, on 12/11 the comrade’s appearance before the investigators is held and the decision to remand him to Kassavetia prison is issued. The policy of zero tolerance with the tightening of the legal framework in general, and more specifically the passing and implementation of the new criminal code, is clearly taking shape. All it takes is a cop’s testimony through video surveillance and evidence of someone’s connection to the anarchist space to build the perfect criminal profile. In order to stigmatize anyone deviating from the model of the upright citizen defined by the state and send the message to the rest of the fighters that just belonging to the anarchist space is enough to end up in jail.
In fact, K.K. is a young comrade who has been sent to prison at a very young age because of his ideas and political action. It actually took place in a country town where the average petit bourgeois conservative householder works and consumes, living passively and patiently awaiting the hour of death. In such a conservative environment, there are people who oppose the brutality of power, take to the streets and claim a better life. And it is precisely this form of action that is targeted for repression, is criminalized and its price is often freedom itself.
So we remind the human-guards that when we say no comrade is alone in the hands of the state, we mean it. It is the cops, the judges and all the political bastards in the House who are degrading and ruining our lives, which is why we defend any militant act that aims to deal a blow to the cannibals of this world. We send our undivided solidarity to comrade K.K. because if for “justice” not bowing your head and fighting is a crime, then we all declare ourselves unrepentant criminals.
