Resistance and Liberation Day 2026: From Lebanon to Palestine, Resistance Remains the Road to Victory

On May 25, 2026, the 26th Resistance and Liberation Day in Lebanon, the Masar Badil, the Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement, salutes the people and the Resistance of Lebanon, led by Hezbollah, who won the liberation of the South on that historic date in 2000 and who are certain to, once again, secure the full liberation and true sovereignty over all of Lebanese land, expelling the occupier and colonizer that wishes to steal the land of the South and target its people.

May 25, 2000, is one of the glorious historical moments in the Arab people’s struggle against Zionism and imperialism. This day marks the anniversary of the forced unconditional withdrawal of the “Israeli” occupation army from South Lebanon after nearly 20 years of occupation — in humiliation, leaving behind its collaborators, military camps and notorious torture prisons. This great victory of the Arab people, the first real such victory since the Nakba of 1948, was created through the resistance fighters of the South, the Beqaa, and throughout all of Lebanon. It was a date that made clear, firmly and indelibly, that land and life can never be restored through negotiations, submission, normalization or foreign tutelage, but only through the weapons, the political vision, and the principles of Resistance.

This date is not only one of victory for Lebanon, but certainly for Palestine as well. In many ways, May 25, 2000, was the death knell for the treacherous and liquidationist path of Oslo, despite the fact that it lingers on in the so-called “Palestinian Authority” to this day. It was only four months later that the Palestinian people throughout occupied Palestine rose up in the Al-Aqsa Intifada, sparked by the realities of bitter Zionist cruelty, occupation and oppression in Palestine and inspired by the turning point in Lebanon that showed that the resistance is indeed capable of overthrowing and expelling the colonizers and achieving victory, armed not only with its rifles but with revolutionary leadership and the popular will of the masses.

Resistance and Liberation Day is a date that showed that, indeed, the Zionist military is not “invincible,” but can be uprooted from the land it occupies with the support, funding and direction of the United States and the imperialist powers. The collapse of the occupation and the flight of its agents from occupied Lebanon remain a living lesson for our peoples and for all liberation movements around the world, and has been echoed through the Al-Aqsa Flood, the glorious October 7 operation, which returned the Palestinian cause and the struggle for liberation to the center of the region and the world after over two decades of attempted liquidation.

This year, as the Zionist enemy continues its aggression against Lebanon and Palestine with full political, military and financial backing from the United States and its imperialist partners, Resistance and Liberation Day becomes even more profound. The enemy continues its daily attacks on Lebanese territory, slaughtering families, destroying villages, assassinations, bombardment and violations of sovereignty, while seeking to impose new political realities and even create a civil war in Lebanon through threats, siege and intimidation.

There are dozens of Lebanese prisoners in Zionist jails, held alongside nearly 10,000 Palestinian and Arab prisoners in the dungeons of the occupier. The prison doors of the occupation will inevitably be broken open, just as the gates of the infamous Khiam detention center were smashed by the resistance and the people in 2000. The prisoners will never be abandoned or forgotten, and their freedom is a sacred commitment of the people and the resistance movements throughout the region.

Once again, the resistance stands firm, deeply rooted among the people, capable of confronting aggression and defending the land, the people and the dignity of the nation. Every day, the Resistance is striking new blows against the enemy, making clear that the land and people of the South will never allow the occupier an unguarded moment, and imposing a meaningful cost for its daily war crimes and genocidal crimes against humanity. It is clear that it is only the Resistance that is capable of defending the South, and indeed all of Lebanon, from the crimes of the colonizer. Indeed, the power and strength of the Resistance after 15 months of one-sided ceasefire has astounded the enemy and the friends of the resistance alike — and the entire world. Any and all calculations based on the defeat or death of the resistance have been thrown into utter disarray in the face of this reality.

However, this year, there are new threats to the Resistance and to Lebanon itself. The vicious attacks of the enemy, which have taken the lives of thousands of precious martyrs, are only one expression of this danger. The relentless efforts of the United States to impose its domination over all of Lebanon, up to and including attempting to provoke a civil war and sectarian division of the country in the interests of the colonial occupier, continue.

The Lebanese government and presidency are continuing to engage in “direct negotiations” with the Zionist entity, sponsored by Washington, as it bombards the villages of the South and seeks to expel its people, even going so far as to discourage the inclusion of Lebanon in a ceasefire agreement between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Zionist entity has made clear its vision for a “Greater Israel” includes not only the South, but all of Lebanon, and that its presence is an existential threat for everyone else in the region. Normalization with “Israel” is not a road to peace, security or sovereignty, but to submission, sectarianism, internal crisis, and permanent weakness. In 2000, Resistance and Liberation Day in Lebanon indicated the death of Oslo in Palestine. Today, in 2026, the dangers of an “Oslo” style agreement for Lebanon are all too clear, and any attempt to impose such a liquidationist, destructive project over the will of the Lebanese people, who are over 90% opposed to normalization, must be firmly and resoundingly blocked.

On this Resistance and Liberation Day, we reaffirm that the resistance in Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen, Iran and across the region remains a living force that cannot be defeated. The blood of the martyrs lights the road toward liberation, return and victory. The liberation of occupied land, the freedom of all prisoners, and the defeat of Zionist colonialism, in Lebanon and in Palestine from the river to the sea can only be achieved through the path of unified struggle, resistance and liberation, until victory, return and liberation.

Glory to the martyrs, victory to the resistance, liberation for Lebanon and Palestine!
