The Soviet Union, the Red Army, the Soviet peoples, workers, and laborers, having emerged victorious from the Second Imperialist War of Partition against the counter-revolutionary front and German fascism, inflicted a historic defeat on the imperialist capitalist states. Following this victory of the Soviet Union, the “threat of socialism” became a concrete reality for the capitalist world. Oppressed nations, colonial states, workers, women, and youth declared war against the rulers, dictatorships, and imperialists. Revolutionaries, communists, and patriots, carrying the Red Flag in their calloused hands, captured the strongholds of the occupiers, colonialists, and imperialists one by one; they overthrew their regimes and added new links to the victories of the struggle for freedom and socialism. One-third of the world’s population broke free from the capitalist system and became liberated. The death knell has begun to toll for imperialist capitalism. The imperialist monopolistic bourgeoisie has found itself in a nightmare.
Hitler’s Germany, one of the imperialist powers of the time that sought to re-divide the world, had been brought to its knees by the Soviet Union; France had lost its economic and military power; Britain had suffered heavy blows; and Japan had surrendered. Britain and France had lost some of their colonial territories to peoples fighting for independence, and some of these areas had fallen under the influence of the USA. Imperialist USA, on the other hand, had emerged from both world wars relatively unscathed compared to Britain and France, and had begun to replace British imperialism.
The USA, having become the leader of the imperialist camp, declared the Soviet Union an enemy as soon as the Second World War ended, and the “Cold War” period began. The then-US President Truman announced the doctrine named after him in 1947. The essence of the Truman Doctrine was… The Soviet Union was a target of hostility towards socialism, communism, and national liberation struggles.
US imperialism launched a campaign to encircle the Soviet Union, weaken the influence of socialism, crush national liberation struggles, and defeat all anti-fascist, anti-imperialist, and anti-colonial movements worldwide, thereby securing new markets and colonial territories. On September 18, 1947, the US established the CIA, a center of counter-revolution. Based on this foundation, on April 4, 1949, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was formed, led by US imperialism and comprising 12 countries (USA, Great Britain, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, Italy, Portugal, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, and Luxembourg). Through cooperation between the US, NATO, and the CIA, countless assassinations, massacres, conspiracies, coups, and invasions were carried out; anti-communist organizations, torture centers, and counter-guerrilla organizations were established. This counter-revolutionary network, known as Gladio, was organized in each NATO country. And through these counter-guerrilla organizations, revolutionaries, communists, artists, trade unionists, scientists, intellectuals, and anti-imperialists were demonized, and thousands were arrested, tortured, and murdered in “witch hunts.” From its inception, NATO has played the role of the imperialists’ most trusted and indispensable institution, the planner, implementer, and controller of the most brutal policies of oppression, torture, massacres, juntas, and in short, all counter-revolutionary activities carried out against the working people of the world. No other imperialist institution has been remembered in the collective memory with so much death, blood, and massacre. Wherever the name NATO is mentioned, events that pave the way for imperialist monopolies, in other words, bring blood and oppression to the working people, have inevitably occurred; just as they have turned every corner of the world into a slaughterhouse today…
Workers, laborers, and the oppressed and exploited peoples of the world!
NATO is the counter-revolutionary war machine of the imperialist capitalist order. It was an enemy of the people yesterday, and it continues to play the same role today. NATO is the center of terrorism in the camp led by US imperialism. It continues to turn the Middle East, the Balkans, the Caucasus, and Europe into a bloodbath in line with the interests of imperialist monopolies. It wages genocidal wars against resistance centers in every corner of the world. The genocidal war waged by Zionist Israel in Palestine/Gaza and Lebanon since October 7, 2023, is fueled by NATO. All NATO components, including Turkey, are accomplices in the genocide perpetrated by Israel. The Turkish bourgeoisie, under the helm of the AKP-MHP, has also become complicit in the genocide in Gaza and Lebanon through its trade with Israel. To wage a revolutionary struggle against NATO means to wage a struggle against the presence of imperialism in Turkey, Kurdistan, and the Middle East.
On July 7-8, 2026, the NATO meeting will once again be held in Turkey. Once again, they are gathering to make decisions that will bring bloodshed and oppression to the world’s peoples, workers, and laborers… They are meeting in Turkey to unleash a new world war on the oppressed peoples of the world. To thwart these dirty policies of the imperialists and their lackeys; let us raise the banner of anti-imperialist, anti-fascist, anti-chauvinist, and anti-patriarchal struggle that we inherited from Deniz, Mahir, İbrahim Kaypakkaya, and Mazlum Doğan, and make the streets of Ankara unbearable for the NATO forces.
Just as the revolutionary forces used every means and form of struggle to prevent the NATO meeting in 2004; let us escalate the anti-imperialist and anti-fascist struggle by employing every means and form of struggle.
We call on all workers and laborers, all oppressed peoples, to fight against the reactionary and imperialist war organization NATO, for freedom and socialism!
Down with imperialism and its war machine, NATO!
Down with NATO, the enemy of workers, laborers, and peoples!
Long live the united, organized struggle for freedom of the peoples!
Forward to dismantle the Turkish branch of the NATO war machine!
