Help Casey Goonan stock the library at FCI Allenwood Medium with the books people actually want to read! Casey conducted a survey of their compound and prepared this wishlist of desired books.
From Casey: “This June i became a worker in the library at FCI Allenwood Medium. My coworkers and i have been granted permission by Education to reorganize the library stacks. From what i hear, it may be the smallest library in the BOP. All of the nonfiction books were hidden and hundreds of irrelevant fiction books filled the visible shelves. We sifted through the mess, created categories and a new catalog system, and made the information accessible to patrons. Now there is a Nonfiction section, arranged by ‘US History’, ‘World History’, ‘Native Studies’, ‘Social Studies’, ‘Music & Popular Culture’, ‘Business and Marketing’, ‘Sports & Fitness,’ ‘Self-Help & Uplift,’ and Fiction sections for ‘Thriller/Mystery’, ‘Military Fiction’, ‘Historical Fiction’, ‘American & Modern Classics’, ‘Science Fiction’, ‘Fantasy’, and ‘Western’. It is still my goal to also create a ‘Africana Studies’ and ‘Hood Books’ section. Both are desired by our majority Black prisoner population.
Convicts at FCI Allenwood Medium are asking outside supporters to order books in, for DONATION to the library. I conducted a survey among the various cars of the compound, and came up with a wishlist.”
