Ukrainian State Removes Communist Statue, Far Right Consolidation Continues

The Ukrainian state has removed a pro-Communist Soviet-era signage from a hilltop monument in Kiev, amid the ongoing conflict.

This continues a long line of pro-nationalist outrages as the state continues its quest of destroying aspects of antifascist memory, and pro-socialist historical and contermporary monuments, statues and even organizations and groupings,

The Ukrainian process of decommunization has targeted almost all pro-socialist organizations and most left wing organizations, except those currently in alliance with the state war efforts. The hammer and sickle, the red star, and even images of Che Guevara have been criminalized in Ukraine.

The statue has been removed as the Ukrainian offensive in the east of the country falters and the war effort drags on with no resolution in sight,
