PFLP Mourns the Loss of Fighter Fathi Khazem, “Abu Raed,” Symbol of Steadfastness in JeniThe Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine mourns the loss of the fighter Fathi Khazem, “Abu Raed,” father of the martyred resistance fighters “Raed” and “Abd al-Rahman,” and a symbol of steadfastness and resilience in Jenin. He was martyred as a result of a cowardly and premeditated assassination operation carried out by Israeli occupation forces, who directly targeted him during the storming of his home in Jenin. This is a new crime added to the occupation’s criminal record, which did not stop at his assassination, but also involved detaining his body, in an attempt to break the will of our people or erase the legacy of the fighters.
“Abu Raed” was a model of sacrifice and courage, a towering national figure, and a voice of resistance against the occupation. His steadfastness and stances contributed to strengthening the culture of resilience and confrontation in Jenin. He did not back down in the face of the occupation’s brutality, and remained committed to dignity and steadfastness, raising his children on the values of sacrifice and struggle. He was a father to heroic resistance fighters who were martyred in the face of the occupation.
The occupation’s resort to assassinations, the detention of the bodies of martyrs, and its attempts to erase their legacy and promote its false narratives, will not succeed in breaking the will of our people or undermining their resilience. Rather, it reflects its weakness in the face of the strength of our people and their commitment to their national rights.
The PFLP affirms that the sacrifices of the fighter “Abu Raed” and all the martyrs and fighters of our people will not be in vain. They will remain present in the national struggle, and a renewed motivation to uphold national rights and remain steadfast on the ground. We pledge to continue the path of struggle and resilience, and to uphold national rights, until the complete departure of the occupation from our land.
Glory and immortality to the soul of the martyr, and to all the martyrs and fighters of our people. Our solidarity is with his family, relatives, and the people of Jenin, a city of resilience and heroism.
